The Eternal Palace, a new WoW raid, has been open only for a few weeks. Already thousands of players have battled their way through the raid, defeating eight bosses. The class adjustments made with patch 8.2 have changed the power balance between different play styles, sometimes quite significantly. Instead of focusing on the damage class performance as usual, let's look at the balancing today of the healers.
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace – Starting point
We will only look at the top ten per cent of heroic logs for each class to really see how they are performing. We do this to ensure that the numbers don't get distorted by weaker players and incorrect logs (where a player was on the ground for half of the time, for instance). These numbers are often achieved with very high equipment and the appropriate Azerite Perks or Essences. However, the pure values aren't very meaningful. Don't worry if you don't manage to get close to these numbers. Even the best healers cannot heal as much damage as the party takes in. They are useful for the relationship between classes however.
WoW: HpS at Abyssal Commander Sivara
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Abyssal Command Sivara Source : buff The first fight at the Eternal Palace will be a test of the healing abilities. This is especially true if damage dealers aren't on their toes or deal too much area damage. You should expect the group healers to be here in front. You might wonder why the Holy Paladin is so far ahead, even though group healing may be necessary. The so-called Shimmer of Light playstyle allows the Paladin to generate enormous group healing. However, it also has its disadvantages. The Holy Priests are the next level up, and they are happy that their mastery doesn't lead to overhealing the majority of the times. - Raidguide to Abyssal Commander Sivara.
WoW: HpS at Azshara’s Splendor
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Azshara’s Splendor Source : buffed The constant area damage in the Eternal Palace's intermediate phases alternates with Azshara’s Splendor's heavy and fast area damage. This combination is ideal for Holy Paladins and the spells they cast. They can also stay on the boss and cast all Light Shimmer abilities while on the move. They are closely followed by Mistcaster Monks. They provide Invigoration, which is the fastest way to get your teammates back in the green after sustaining damage. HoTs take too long for Druids, while Shamans are unable to move as fast as they need. - Raidguide to Azshara’s Splendor.
WoW: HpS at Blackwater Monster
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Blackwater Untamed. Source: buff Healers in the Blackwater Untamed have to deal with almost all types of damage and keep an eye on debuffs if he wants to pump mana into unhealable target. Here, monks are strong again. They can relax and restore the party to a safe level Health after dealing with area damage. This requires movement (at the least on the back platforms). The Holy Paladins are again strong here, and again Shamans suffer from a lot movement and the general weakness in the class, which doesn’t seem to be fixed even with recent buffs. - Raidguide to blackwater monster.
WoW: Lady Aschwenwind offers HpS
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Lady Ashleywind Source: buff Lady Ashenwind serves as the check for your party’s DpS. However, healers don’t really have to work hard until mythic mode. It is more important than constant HpS to be able to quickly heal your party after the initial impacts from the water bullets. This will ensure that no further deaths occur. Here, Holy Priests can shine with their many talents and skills. Even more than the monks. Healing Druids complain that the group heals too fast for the HoTs' effect. Although Discipline Priests are not able to reach high levels of HpS, they should not be underestimated due to their shields and quick burst healing after impacts. - Raidguide for Lady Aschenwind.
WoW: HpS at Orgozoa
WoW: HpS In The Eternal Palace: OrgozoaSource: buffed Because you'll be busy moving to the second chamber for half the fight, the HpS effectiveness is quite low. There isn't much to heal here, even if you get out of the middle stage. Druids continue to push forward because their HoTs are a perfect counter to the boss’s increasing number of DoTs. Holy Paladins, however, generate overheals primarily with their Light Shimmers. This is why they fall to the bottom of this ladder on Gorgonzola. - Raidguide for Orgozoa.
WoW: HpS at Queen's Court
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Queen's CourtSource: buffed This is the third boss at the Eternal Palace that allows the Holy Paladins to shine again. Their playstyle is unmatched. The tin can healer can be there for the boss 24/7 and continue his healing routine unassisted. The resulting HpS numbers can't be matched by any other class. The Holy Priests are not even close. The four other classes are very close. The Restoration Shamans aren't required to move here much, but their mastery isn't that important because very rarely do players take too much damage. - Raidguide to Queen's Court.
WoW: HpS at Za'qul
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Za’qul Source: buffed The same principle that was applied to the Queen's Court applies to Za'qul, at least in relation to Holy Priest or Holy Paladin. The incoming damage here is much more severe, so the Shamans can claim Best of the Rest. Discipline Priests fall to last place. They are not the best choice, but they do generate the least HpS. However, their shields and bonus damage are not bad. Many guilds have heavily relied on shield slingshots to defeat their back bosses. But, they must be used in mythic mode. Raid guides to Za'qul and Harbinger of Ny'alotha.
WoW: Queen Azshara's HpS
WoW: HpS at the Eternal Palace: Queen Azshara. Source: The buffed Discipline priests rank last under Azshara, however they are still the most important healer for many top guilds. This clearly shows that HpS isn't the most important argument in favor or against a healer class in WoW. (Buy now 14,99 EUR). Shields are more valuable than high HpS due to the lower maximum health of players in this fight. Method guild even had two Discipline Priests in Mythic Mode and benched all other healer types. Their Holy playstyle is the best when it comes to pure HPS. They are ahead of all healers, and the gaps between them and the rest are very small, with the exception being the Discipline.

The Eternal Palace balance looks good across all the fights. Diszi, Shaman, and Druid could still slip up a bit, but they are not knocked out. The mechanics of fights are more tailored to the abilities and abilities of other healer classes, so Shaman and Druid may be affected. Discipline Priests shine more with burst healing or shields than with pure HPS. Blizzard should be commended in general. The balancing of damage classes would have a much lower level of whining from players. We must mention the Holy Paladin. It is doing well in logs, but it must use the Shimmer of Light playstyle. He's currently at the bottom of the list without three of the Shimmer of Light talents and the appropriate talents. While the other classes have strong perks, no one is so dependent on one perk. Blizzard could adjust the rules to make healing tin cans more customizable
